October 15 is a Holiday in the Philippines

President Benigno Aquino III has signed Proclamation No. 658 declaring October 15 a Regular Holiday in celebration of the Islamic feast of Eidul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

"The date of the festival is based on the declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body,” the proclamation read.

It added that the declaration was also made upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

Eidul Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam. It commemorates Abraham’s sacrifice of his son Ishmael in obedience to God.
