Christmas 2012 : Decorating Part 1

Finally :)

My Christmas decorating project is halfway done, the curtain headers and door decoration are done. Actually i haven't done so much but it took me 7 hours to do this much. I don't have garlands, but we have an old Christmas tree so i just used the elements to make them look like garlands.Its not easy to make it but this is all i have now, i just have to be creative. Well i thought not to put the tree up because i have no place for it.

Well, my motif hasn't changed. In fact i think its been the motif for the last 8 years.pink, lilac,peach with light gold.they look really classy but having it for too long just don't feel right to me now. i promised myself to box them well after Christmas i will surely invest on a new motif next year.With the home improvement in place, i think id just root for the traditional colors red gold and green. What more they are actually easier to collect and cheaper.

 

So, that's it for 2 small windows, 1 bigger window, and 2 doors. i tried to save flowers as much as i can because i still want to put a lantern, with the same motif, and a table tree just like last year, I'm also planning to arrange the remaining balls into a tree shape just like what i saw in Singapore but i don't know if i can because that means gluing it and i can't, because glue will ruin the balls.

Lets just see how the 2nd installment of the Christmas decoration project will go.

I'm feeling really festive right now, with the good news October left me. Thank God im so Blessed.

UPDATE: The second Installment only comprises of some minor lighting decorations outside the house.  bought some cheap led christmas lights down town.

December 24 2012 is a Holiday in the Philippines

If you are planning the holidays ahead  of time maybe you should consider this good news..

December 24 which is a Monday, sandwiched between Sunday and Tuesday being Christmas Day has been declared a Special Non Working Holiday by the Philippine President.

Isn't that great? More time for buying presents and cooking for the noche buena.

Eid'l Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah's (God's) command to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Muslims around the world observe this event.  It is often referred as a Muslim's Feast of Sacrifice.

SWORD ART ONLINE

My BF and I are very fond of this anime series Sword Art Online and unfortunately the Season I had just ended last week. The Good thing is, when we researched about this series, we found out that Sword Art Online is actually a Novel, which means.. There's a lot more coming! (Yay can't wait)

But before that, since i am excited to know whats next, I've downloaded the full copy of Sword Art Online Series and is now reading it. This is a great light novel i should say although the order of events is quite confusing. There are certain books or episodes that are just flash backs, Example, Book 2 is just a flash back because the events in Book 2 actually happened in between the beginning and ending of Book 1. Readers will really get confused if they did not read the all the books.

Plot and Characters

In the year 2022, the Virtual reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), Sword Art Online (SAO), is released. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality Helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds.

On November 6, 2022, all the players log in for the first time, and subsequently discover that they are unable to log out. They are then informed by Kayaba Akihiko, the creator of SAO, that if they wish to be free and log out of the game, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world. The story follows Kirito, a skilled player who is determined to beat the game. As the game progresses, Kirito eventually befriends a female player called Asuna who becomes his partner and lover. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's avatar in SAO, they confront and defeat him, freeing themselves and the other players from the game.

Upon returning to the real world, Kirito learns that Asuna and a small group of SAO players are trapped in another VRMMORPG called Alfheim Online (ALO). Their imprisonment in ALO was part of a plan devised by Nobuyuki Sugō to subdue Asuna and marry her, in an attempt to take over her family's company. With help from old friends he met in SAO along with new allies, Kirito thwarts Nobuyuki's plans and finally reunites with Asuna in the real world.

Soon after, Kirito plays another VRMMORPG called Gun Gale Online (GGO) to investigate the mysterious connection between the game and deaths occurring in the real world. He eventually discovers that the culprits are former members of a murderous guild he has previously encountered in SAO.

After solving the murders in GGO, Kirito is recruited to assist in the development of a state-of-the-art game, UnderWorld (UW), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than that of the previous games he had played. In UW, the flow of time proceeds thousands of times faster than in the real world. However, Kirito ends up falling for a trap and wakes up inside the game, unable to log out and he starts looking for a way back to reality.

Setting

The light novel series spans several virtual MMORPGs, not exclusively the titular world of Sword Art Online.

Sword Art Online

The first virtual game world, as well as the setting of the first arc of the story. The world takes the form of a giant floating castle called Aincrad, with 100 floors in it. Each floor has medieval-themed setting and a dungeon with a boss. The boss at the end of each floor has to be defeated before players can advance to the next higher floor. Like most RPGs, it implements a level based system.

Alfheim Online

The setting for the second arc of the story. It is a large world, divided into separate 'homelands' of each of its fairy races. All players have the ability to fly and have wings on their avatars. In the center is a very large tree called Yggdrasil, and the goal of the game is to reach the top. It implements a skill based system with players increasing their stats by developing both their combat and non-combat skills, in a fashion similar to the latest installments of the Elder Scrolls game series. Aincrad, the castle of the first game, is later accessible to ALO players as well.

Gun Gale Online

The setting for the third arc of the story. It is a virtual game world with a main focus on guns, although melee weapons like lightsabers and knives also exist.

UnderWorld

The setting for the fourth arc of the story. According to Kirito, it is graphically the most realistic of all VRMMOs to date. The flow of time in UW is much faster than the real world's (probably a prototype of the accelerated world). Even so, it seems that even Kirito was misled as to the actual rate of UW's time flow, so it is still unknown. However, in the "There is but one ultimate way" side story, the rate is said to be 10000 times faster than that of the real world.

Bake and Churn's Mango Madness Melted

Last Friday was my mom's birthday and i finally redeem my Bake and Churn ice cream cake from Megamall, my last voucher from the 3 pieces i bought a few months ago.
This is a good deal, you get a 400php voucher for 200php only applicable to limited flavor of dome cakes. A few months back i blogged about my Bake and Churn experience HERE. And last month i tried a new flavor and blogged about my experience also HERE..
So the lessons i learned from the two purchases are the following

1. dont buy the cake if you cant have it frozen when you eat it, because it is extremely sweet specially if it already looks overly sweet and you eat it nearly melting.You may research the ingredients from website, for bake and churn, their website is nice to have all the ingredients enumerated for each cake. 
2.  if you dont have a car dont commute with an ice cream cake. Generally to travel with anything too bulky and delicate is a pain, what more if you are racing with the time and comcern about the heat?Ice cream cakes dont taste good when its melted, or when it is even nearly melting.

Moving on, ive applied the two lessons i learned last friday, after all i wanted the cake to look nice for my mother. From Megamall to Binan Laguna I hitched a ride with the neighbor's car working in San Miguel, but traffic was heavy i was home by 8:15 when i left the office at 6:00 and i had my cake by 6:30.

Much to my dismay this is how my cake looked like when i opened the box.

As you see in the picture, one side of the cake has already fallen, the ice cream outside melted already, its not even 3 hours, and to think they promised that the cake wont melt upto 4 hours. But it maybe a case by case basis.

My first experience with Bake and Churn was the Rocky Road. The side of the rocky Road is fence by chocolate chips, when you buy from the shops a whole cake, it has some acetate keeping the fences intact, therefore, it may possibly last longer compared to other cakes without that acetate.

I may not have evidence that shows that its already past 8 at night but there is also no reason for me to slander. THIS IS A REVIEW. This will help buyers to decide what to buy in the future.

And if you ask me about the taste, i don't find it too sweet like the Black Forest, but it is also not as nice as the Rocky Road, But it is Bake and Churn, It's delicious as ever.

ONLY YOU Fringe Season Finale

I cant believe Fringe is showing its last season. (sigh)
I dont really like what happened in Season 4 it seems like so many puzzles with missing pieces mixed up altogether. At first there's some unexplainable part of Science, there's alter universe, then there's overlapping of Universes and now its 2036 in Fringe and the world does seem wasted. The supreme ruler is an observer, a being unknown of origin but has existed even before time.

Okay, so the Season starts with the reunion of the main characters, Olivia, Peter, Walter, Astrid and Henrietta. Well Etta or Henrietta was introduced in the last episodes of Season 4. Apparently, she was Peter and Olivia's daughter.. I am really confused now so i am downloading the Season 4  again and when time permits i will even watch everything all over again from Season 1. Fringe has always been a Fun puzzle to Solve so i am anticipating more in the next episodes, i do hope my boyfriend start liking it so he will download for me hahaha.

Well, even if  i never liked the turn of events with Fringe, it still amazes me how great this show was made, from the sounds to the effects. And yes, my favorite is still Walter Bishop for I am very much in love with his wit.

Solomon's Boneyard

My BF and i have been addicted to this game for the longest time ever!! it all started out with Raptisoft's first game called Solomon's keep. Ever played Diablo?? Solomon's keep is like Diablo. You advance from floor to floor after swiping the entire floor and unlocking the doors, killing all mobs, you get to gain exp, get dropped nice looties that in turn you can wear to add more stats to your hero. To finish a floor you also need to unveil the entire map. I have only played the easiest mode and got bored..

 

Luckily raptisoft launched Solomon's Boneyard, a new game and more likely a sequel to Solomon's keep it is also inspired by The Diablo.

Solomon's Boneyard is better and as a player you are encouraged to save money so u can buy more perks, unveil other heroes, buy more skills add more options etc. just recently my bf bought the add boss feature and it has never been more fun!! 

The reason i cant restore my iPhone is because i wanted to unlock everything first just try it out entirely before loosing it right. And i promise i will buy some in game cash as a Thank You to Raptisoft for such a nice game!!

My Not So Grown Up Christmas List

Hello October! Christmas is fast coming and the kid in me wants to make a list for Christmas. I use to do this but i stopped, so now dyaaaraaan!! Here's what i want for Christmas!

Warning : This is the materialistic side of me :) there are far better things i wish that i could not write in here so i just keep it to myself okay! i wanted to make this list so i will be inspired to achieve, these i would like to think - will be my reward to myself.

A New Perfume

Sniff Sniff Sniff me More. I think I've been wanting to get this for myself for the longest time. Isn't it lovely? Just the bottle looks classy enough right? But its a little expensive for me so until now i cant buy it, I've been like dreaming to have Daisy by Marc Jacobs for the last 3 years now. Oh how i wish i could have it soon!

Well, i things go so well, i would like the following as alternative :

a. Dolce and Gabbanna Light Blue. This is like the National Perfume of all the Pinays in Singapore. And Yes i love it too, i used to have a small bottle but its finished already. So i want one, again!

b. Victoria Secret's Vanilla Lace. I beg to disagree that it smells like a car perfume! I know its affordable nonetheless it is still classy! And it would be super awesome if it will come together with other stuff like below (vomit blood).

A New Bag

What now haha i think i had like 10 or more bags this year but those were the cheap bags from Divisoria, infact some of them i gave away already after one use only, the thing is, i have a very little resistance to temptation when it comes to bags. Have you ever been to Divisoria's Night Market?? They sell there very cheap bags mostly signature cut, but of course they don't last long, lucky you if they last with you for a few months.Then I realized now, i actually spent so much for those cheap bags that had i saved all those money i could have already afford a better bag with a good tag, No not the LV or Prada ones, but Maybe Tommy Hilfiger or XOXO perhaps?

But this Christmas, I'm eyeing Charles & Keith and how i wish I'm still in Singapore because C & K is so much cheaper there and what more i can check out the sale items online and see which store has it, saves me time and money going to the wrong shop right? The website is also so good you can actually see how the items look like because you can rotate the viewer. Too bad they don't have a website for online shopping in the Philippines, and the items are very limited as well.

And here are the alternatives in case i failed to get it

a. Michaela Bag. My workmate Janice always get her bag from Michaela, before, i don't really believe in the promise of local brands but i came to notice this one specially because i like the styles and sizes their bag comes with.

b. Satchel bag from Tomato. Ive been wanting to get this Purple (or dark velvet or this curry colored on like the pic below) bag from Tomato but whenever i visit their boutiques they don't have stock so i don't really know if they still sell it. but i still want one in case i failed to get the 2 above.Hahaha.

A New Phone

I think i better say bye bye to my iPhone. I am planning to sell it soon because its like 3 yrs old already and i am not very comfortable traveling with it. Its not very luxurious dang its not Samsung s3 or iPhone 4 or 5 but still if you travel most of the time Here in the Philippines better be safe than sorry. I would like to change into a more humble phone so i would like to get myself a cheap 3g Blackberry, No i don't want a plan, i just want to have data when i need it so i want a prepaid one, i also don't want monthly obligation.

Stress really does bad right? Imagine how i looked when i was out of job, penniless but fresh hahaha and yes i may have a few to spend now but look how horrible i look, i aged a ton!! Sometimes i feel even scared to look at myself, seeing how horrible my skin had become, or even my nails, or even my "size" those aren't really helping to boost my self esteem.. So for a change i wanted to pamper myself with a nice rebond, You see despite the split ends, i really want to keep my long hair so i just trim it only a little, i want to reserve it until i save enough for a rebond. An Inter-Island Vacation

My Bf and I have been planning to go to a vacation trip. For once we have not been to any and i think we should soon do it because both of us are stressed with our work and second, everybody deserves some good time right? But where do we go? I still don't know.. Money is still a big factor, this may come last but i sure want this to come one way or another.. I wanted to go to Boracay for a few days, I wanted to see the beach, to feel the wind, but i also want to enjoy the mountains to wake up in the chirps of the birds. Actually, I thought of coming home to Mindoro, Its my mother's province and my grandmother owns a house there, i also have a clanful of relatives there. But i dont even know why,as much as i miss Naujan, i am also afraid to see that place again. I feel sadness. With my grandfather gone now, the house that used to be very happy just sits there damp and empty. i hope one of my mom's sibling go back there to live in the house, so it would still feel home to me.

Simple Flower Nail Art : Cherry Blossoms at Night

Just recently i learned how to make flowers with a dotting tool and a toothpick. So my nails this week is inspired by the magazine cover i saw while traveling home. Sakura leaves in dark background. I called this Cherry Blossoms at Night ha-ha..

Simple Strawberry Nail Art

When i saw Saab Magalona in one of the TV Sitcom in TV5 (i can't recall what or when) one of the thing that caught my eye is her nails. I thought i saw some strawberry inspired art in it. Before i knew it, i have already researched on youtube how it is done and tell you, there are tons of strawberry nail art tutorials online but amongst the videos i saw, i think this one is the same as the what's Saab nails look like.

After seeing this video, i was fired up and envious so i got mine too. haha. But i have limited nail polish supplies and i dont have the same colors so i made use of what i already have.

When i applied the green i just let it go over my nails because it is short, i cleaned it aftwards

First i coat my nails with the pink one, then used the green one to make the leaves, actually i dont have a green, this color looks more like teal to me, but it can do yeah? then apply the strawberry seeds randomly using a dotting tool with white polish. To finish it off, i coated it with a natural polish so its shiny.

It may look messy but i think looks cute for a first timer.

The Hello Kitty Chocolate Filled Cookies.

I saw this Hello Kitty Chocolate filled cookies from Mercury Drug Convenience Store in Crossing Shaw and immediately bought it. I thought of trying it out for a change but i already doubt it because i had a bad experience from Japanese cookies bought from Singapore's 1 dollar Daiso. They don't taste right to me.
But, the cat caught me and like in most occasions, i can barely admit that i loved hello kitty. But in reality, i think i do, i just don't have the budget to collect it, or maybe i find liking it too overrated. Because, who doesn't anyway?

Chocolate filled cookies that looks hand painted with cute drawing of kitty and ice cream cones. The filling are cookies and something with texture, im not sure if its rice crispies (really tiny) or sprinkles. But they look good. They just dont smell that enticing.

I think it don't taste good at all. Just like my worst experience from a Daiso cookie, it leaves a medicine like after taste, that kind of taste you get from really cheap cookies. It don't taste like chocolate to me, but only "chocolate-like" something else ha-ha. No kidding i ate only 3 pcs and thought of taking the other few pieces home to feed it my dog. Later on i throw it away i fear my dog might die LOL.

I took home the other pack, Its  a good addition to my room only because it is pink (Oh i love anything pink that looks cute). The pack that i throw already i took it again from the waste bin and cut Hello Kitty out, put some tape and pin it so right now it stands in front of my monitor in the office. And whenever i look at it, i feel full (that's good right?), i don't ever wanna taste it again.

I definitely don't recommend buying it. But it is cheap anyway so if you are collecting Hello Kitty, its good to have one too, just display it, don't eat it !
